By using the Enschede Fietst app, Enschede municipality provides various cycling challenges throughout the year. The app is active for many years now and on average we have 2500 participants. The focus of the app is on the cyclists. The app is used to register the mobility pattern of travelers through their smartphone. Based on the collected information, they are stimulated to use the ‘active travel modes’ such as cycling more often.

You can get green faster in more than 20 places in Enschede with the Enschede Fietst app. As soon as the Enschede Fietst app notices that you are approaching a traffic light, the app automatically sends a message to the control center that controls the traffic lights. This increases the chance that the traffic light will give you green at the right time. So enjoy cycling!

In total, thousands of users had the app on their phone during the last years.
